Dr. Gutiérrez is a neuroradiologist in private practice and Director of the Neuroradiology Division at Centro Avanzado de Diagnóstico Médico (CEDIMED) in Colombia. He is licensed as a Medical Doctor in Colombia.
Previously, Dr. Gutiérrez served at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX as Associate Professor of Radiology, Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, Medical Director and Director of the Clinical Trials Division at the Radiology Department. He was formerly Director of Medical Development, Diagnostic Imaging and Associate Director of Clinical Development, Diagnostic Imaging, for Bayer Healthcare (formerly Berlex Laboratories) in Montville, NJ. Dr. Gutierrez also served as a medical monitor with Novartis (formerly Ciba-Geigy Labs) in Medellin.
Dr. Gutiérrez received a Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from CES University in Medellin and Specialist in Clinical Radiology from Pontifical Xavierian University / San Ignacio Hospital in Bogota. He completed a research fellowship in Neuroradiology at Thomas Jefferson University / TJU Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and a visiting fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Gutiérrez was awarded an Antioquia Radiology Association award for his “Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to Stroke” in 1999 as well as the Colombian National Academy of Medicine Award for his “Clinical and genetic characterization of two Colombian families with CADASIL type Dementia” in 2002. He is a member of the Colombian Radiology Association, Radiology Association of Antioquia, Radiology Society of North America (RSNA), American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), American Society of Functional Neuroradiology (ASFNR), the American College of Radiology (ACR), Interamerican College of Radiology (CIR), Ibero and Latin American Society of Neuroradiology (SILAN), the Medicine Academy of Medellin and a founding member of the Colombian Neuroradiology Association.
Dr. Gutiérrez has co-edited five medical books on radiology and imaging and authored or co-authored over 25 book chapters as well as 17 peer-reviewed articles and scores of abstracts and articles published in scientific research journals. He has been lead researcher, international researcher and co-investigator on numerous clinical trials, presented scores of lectures at locations throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia and has conducted training workshops in multiple U.S. cities.
